Writing for Strength is a program for active military. It uses techniques that are similar to the techniques used in Writing for Wellness to address issues of loss for military personnel with PTSD. Sessions have been run at Camp Pendleton in California with the Julie Davey and the chaplain co-teaching the course. Marines voluntarily showed up for the class, perhaps lured by the promise of pizza and homemade cookies. They stayed to write about and share losses they have felt.
The class was a success with 25+ at most of the classes. And once they come, they come back, unless they are re-deployed.
